If I start to sell my jewellery, I think I'll name the company "Girlywhigs". Mostly because my wire creations have whirlygig elements to them and they are girly. Creative, I know!

Here are a few more I made on a snowy Easter day:
These are rose quartz necklace and bracelet combos.

These build off the first green stone and copper necklace (see last post).

And this last one is an amethyst and glass bracelet. Lots of fun making the cages for the amethyst.

Advances in Jewellery Making

Well, I've discovered that I really do love working with wire. It is so much fun. Here's the latest creation. It's a copper wire and green bead necklace that I made for Carita's birthday.

I bought the green beads in Mexico while on holidays. I made the copper beads from twisted wire and wrapped the beads in copper as well. More designs in progress and will be up here soon.

Jewels of 2007

Well it's been a while since I've posted anything here, so I thought I'd post an update of some of the jewellery I've been making.

This is a new wire design that I tried. It combines swirls of sterling silver wire with black, flat shell beads. I'm beginning to enjoy working with wire more as I get more used to how it behaves and what I can do with it.
Although this necklace may look delicate, the wire once worked with, is quite strong and sturdy.

These two necklaces combine different colour pearl combinations- copper and pink pearls and white with a hint of green pearls. They are fairly long and can be worn multiple ways.

The love shack

This is our love shack. Our cutie little love shack. No, it doesn't have a tin roof and it isn't rusted...it's cedar shingles. When you come to the love shack next summer, it won't be shaking, but the party will be! No juke box money required. hee hee.

That's probably the last update on the pool progress for the winter. Since it's pretty cold and there won't be much else going on until spring. The countdown to pool time is on!

Now I'll just keep you posted on the hottub progress. Since we waited so long to hook it up, some of the plumbing froze and now I think the one pump is toast and the heater doesn't seem to be working either. Frig! More cash to fork out for repairs.

Rain, rain go away

Well it's the first of December and it's hit us with a bang. Not snow like one would expect for December, but pelting rain. It's one of those days where you just want to crawl up on the couch with your fuzzy jammies, a warm blankie, a hot cup of tea and a good book. And then stay there for the whole day.

At least I am staying home today, but not for fun reasons. Lil J is sick with a nasty stomach virus, so I'm here playing mom today. Luckily, knock on wood, the vomiting has stopped. Phew. So now she's just crawled in bed and watching some hideous daytime TV.

These people who put themselves under the microscope on these shows really need to get a life. Are we that sad in today's society that we have to spill our deepest secrets on national TV and the rest of us watch it! Eeek.

Another update

Wow! Who would have thought that on November 25th we'd have 13 degree weather! It's been a fabulous weekend. Had a great night with the goils on Friday. Laughed until I thought I could laugh no more....and learned a few things about people's tolerance levels. Yes, some people aren't as comfortable talking openly about some things as others. You know who you are...all those who feared the kitchen chatter! :D Then had a long walk through Elora Gorge on Saturday with a great friend. And wore the muttski out which is always a bonus. Today, I put up the christmas lights with the hubby. All in all a good weekend.

With the good weather, comes more pool progress. So here are a few updated pics. I can really imagine the drinks by the pool now!

The concrete pads for the shed and the hot tub are poured and ready. The shed build should start next week! For an idea of what it's going to look like, check out http://limestonetrail.com/products_d10.asp.

The outline around the pool makes it really easy now to picture the final product. Hopefully, the weather holds out next week and they can pour the stamped concrete. We chose colours to match the other rocks in the backyard, so keep your fingers crossed it turns out!

Can you swim in the winter?

Well we know leaves can swim in the pool in November, but I doubt that we'd want to.

Here's the latest on the pool:
- the liner is in...yay!
- the pool holds water...way yay!

Hopefully the weather holds out this week and we can pour the concrete for the shed and for the hot tub. It'd be great to have the hot tub for the winter.

Did you know that it needs to be above 14 degrees to pour concrete? Well, you do now! So it looks like they'll have to tarp the area for the two concrete pads, bring in some heaters and then pour away. I'll be sure to get pics of that! hee hee.

Pool oh pool do we have a pool?

The weather hasn't been cooperating, so we were at a bit of a standstill on the pool the other day. Rain and snow don't mix well with cement that's trying to set. But finally yesterday they were able to pour the last of the bottom of the pool. Now we just have to wait for a few days of nice weather so that we can put the liner in, fill the pool and then, keep your fingers crossed folks, pour the concrete around the pool.

It finally looks like a pool

So it's day four of the pool and it is actually starting to look like a pool. Yesterday, they put the walls up and today they cemented them in.

Just think, six months from now we'll be swimming! haaa! We just have to get through winter first. ick.

Pool progress

Well, we finally started to dig our pool this week. After a few delays. The first delay was the first snowfall of the year...just happened to snow on the very same day we want to start digging the pool. Oops.

But we did get started and now we have a huge, gigantic hole in our backyard. Here's a few pics of our progress so far:
